Special guest at East Devon Year 3/ 4 Quadkids Finals

East Devon’s Level 2 School Games 2016/17 programme closed with an exciting Year 3 & 4 Quadkids athletics competition at The King’s School, Ottery St Mary this week

The East Devon Year 3&4 Quad kids Finals was the closing event of the 2016/17 academic year and was a fitting finale to an excellent year of inter-school sport in East Devon. Over 75 pupils from across East Devon enjoyed a balmy Summer evening. Despite end of term residential trips, sports days and the myriad of school events that the summer brings the visiting young athletes fought off any jadedness and were in fine form. Payhembury, Brixington, All Saints, Woodbury, Hemyock, Willand, Uffculme, Seaton and Upottery primary schools were cheered on and supported by Crunchy – The Devon School Games mascot.
The events which included standing long jump, vortex throw, 50m sprint and a 400m run were superbly marshalled and judged by young Sports Leaders from The King’s School. A super atmosphere saw all athletes, teachers and parents in supportive, encouraging and vocal mood, and there was a good deal of appreciation shown for some exceptional individual and team performances.
Schools also took time to test their hand-eye coordination at a ‘Crazy catch’ rest station.
Results couldn’t have been closer as Woodbury Primary School just edged out Seaton and Brixington Primary Academy into 2nd and 3rd place respectively to take the East Devon title
Many Thanks to everyone involved for a great evening !
