Colyton Grammar romp to East Devon U15 Indoor cricket title

5 East Devon schools (Colyton Grammar School, Honiton Community College, Sidmouth College, Exmouth Community College and The King’s School) made up the 6 team entry for the East Devon opening round of the U15 boy’s indoor cricket competition

An exciting competition saw some fine cricket played by all teams and for the second year running included a game ending on same runs scored.
The high tempo indoor format once again gave rise to some positive running between the wickets and athletic fielding and wicket -keeping. The East Devon Level 2 competition is now an established part of the Devon School Games Programme and is firmly rooted in The East Devon Sports calendar.
Congratulations to Colyton Grammar School ‘A’ team who were crowned East Devon champions after convincing performances throughout the competition. They beat Sidmouth College after a strong batting display and with a ruthless bowling attack (a little reminiscent of the current Australian attack), there was no hint of optimism for Sidmouth in the run chase. A big thank you to Steve Pritchard and Sophie Whitlock from Devon Cricket Board for their help with the East Devon competition and to Exmouth Community College staff Ian Taylor for his support in hosting the event and organising the venue.
We wish Colyton Grammar School the best of luck for the County finals and hope that they fly the East Devon flag at the next level.

We look forward to our next foray into the world of indoor cricket when it is the turn of the girls to show their talents as they compete for the U13 and U15 East Devon indoor titles on the 18th January 2018 at The East Devon Tennis Centre.
